Haiti earthquake two years later
More than a third of households affected by the deadly 2010 Haiti earthquake and over half of those living in the camps have not recovered basic household assets nearly two years after the disaster, according to an analysis by Tulane University researchers.
Tulane gets $5 million to lead disaster education
Tulane University has been awarded a $5 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to help universities in disaster-prone regions in Africa and Asia establish a network of education and development programs in disaster resilience and leadership.
DRLA Oil Spill Study Cited
September 11, 2011, Time-Picayune: Oil spill claims of $357 million have been paid to 12,300 Louisiana residents. A new study of Gulf Coast Claims Facility data shows that 81 percent of Louisiana's 13,100 paid fishing claims were quick payments -- ones that required no more than the minimal documentation claimants had to present to get their emergency six-month payments last fall.
