DRLA Executive Director Ky Luu interviews Ambassador John Blaney, U.S. Ambassador to Liberia from 2002 to 2005

 

 

 

Ambassador Blaney, as the U.S. ambassador to Liberia from 2002 to 2005, successfully led efforts to end the 14-year civil war in Liberia. Ambassador Blaney was also a key player in bringing about a peaceful and democratic transition of government in Liberia. For his services in Liberia Ambassador Blaney received the President’s Distinguished Service Award and the Secretary of State’s Distinguished Honor Award which happens to be the highest decoration the State Department provides. Ambassador Blaney received his Bachelor of Arts from Syracuse University and his Masters of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. Ambassador Blaney is currently a senior advisor with Deloitte Consulting.
