The goal of the final implementation plan will be to establish a network of institutions of higher learning to allow the production of leadership capacity and the development of a platform for comparative research on disaster management practices that will greatly enhance global learning for disaster resilience. Additionally, the project will seek to establish and include in the network, regional Centers of Excellence that will bring together individuals, communities, and local and national authorities to exchange ideas and institutionalize best practices, bringing together the public and private sectors to promote disaster resilience and work towards sustained capacity building. This project is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
